FAQs

Grassroots soccer sessions are jamboree style practices/games that follow the Canadian Soccer Association’s Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) model. The Grassroots program teaches soccer through fun drills followed by scrimmage play. All Grassroots soccer sessions are administered by our Technical Director and his team of qualified coaches and are parent assisted.

The Development Training program follows the same LTPD model principles but is designed for the more committed athlete who is wanting more than the Grassroots program but who isn’t old enough for our Tiered League Play program.

The Tiered League Play (TLP) program practices in Cochrane but plays games within the Calgary Minor Soccer Association (CMSA) league. These games can be scheduled in Cochrane or Calgary. These programs require athletes to go through a player placement evaluation process, attend technical training, coach training and participate in CMSA league play. Tiered League Play league has a longer season than the Grassroots program.

Cochrane Minor Soccer is open to all children and youth ages 3 and up. If we have the space, we sometimes are able to open up a group for those that will turn 3 within 3 months of the program, in a what we call our “First Kicks Almost 3” group. When you register, the TeamSnap registration page will direct you to the appropriate age group based on your child’s birthdate.

Fees vary depending on the age of the player and the type of program. Fees are paid prior to the start of the program, there is an installment plan option. Funding can also be accessed through Jumpstart or Kidsport – be sure to register then apply right away for funding. We can help direct you to funding so reach out, and also let us know if you have applied for funding so we know to expect it. We also have a Casino every 2-3 years that parents help with by working shifts. We also run periodic fundraising campaigns.

Shin pads are mandatory for all players, indoor soccer shoes or runners (NO cleats) for Indoor or cleats or runners for Outdoor and athletic bottoms. Mini Wolves will all get new TimBits socks and jerseys on the first night though older TimBits jerseys are also great to wear if you have one. Development and Tiered League Play players are encouraged to wear their red training jerseys if they already have one, contact info@cochraneminorsoccer.ca if you need to buy one or order with initial registration. If you order one with registration you will get it at the first session. Water bottles labelled with players name are a must for all sessions as there are no shared water bottles, and limited or no access to water fountain.

TeamSnap is the program we use to communicate with our Teams. It is a free app for parents to download that has all the schedule and player information each team needs, right on your phone or computer. The club shoulders the cost of running each team, so there is no extra payment at the team level.

Login to TeamSnap from a web browser at https://go.teamsnap.com or choose the TeamSnap app from the App Store. You can create a free account. When you register for a program, you will automatically be redirected to our TeamSnap registration page where you will be asked to log into your account, to choose which player to register. You are able to register more than one player at a time if you select “register another player”. Once we are ready to publish the teams, you will be able to see your teams in your app. In order to get the invitation to join the team, your email needs to be listed when you register for our programs, so be sure to add whoever you want to have access to your child’s team when you register. You are able to add more people once your child is rostered. You also have the option to keep your information private. If you need any help with it, email us at info@cochraneminorsoccer.ca
